Salgado DR Mission Newsletter

Dear mission partners, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ,

Thank you very much to all of our supporters and family in Chris who pray for our family and this mission. This last month has been very busy. Even though humanly speaking we are doing much, we trust not in our works for a even a moment. But we do rejoice in knowing we have seen signs of the Holy Spirit’s work among us (conviction of sin and spiritual growth). Praise the Lord for His grace in showing us these moments of His activity around and in the people we minister to. The Lord is always at work.

But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” – John 5:17

But we want to be sure we are joining in working where He is, and not just doing our own will and asking Him to bless it. It gives us great assurance to know God is working all around us and that others are able to see this as well. We want to try to be sensitive to what we see happening and what the Spirit is doing. Please pray that we remain sensitive to the Spirit and flexible, even if it means changing any plans we may have.

Last month we had our friends from Morriston Baptist Church pay us a visit. It was a blessing to be able to work with Pastor Keith and his team. We were able to minister to many people over the course of that week. We did an outreach in which we ministered to the children in the mornings and the adults in the evenings (see new videos). We had near 150 children show up for the activities such as games, crafts, music, and Bible teaching. In the evening we held Bible studies for both the men and the women. The women’s bible study went together with a class on accessories where the women could learn a new skill and hopefully a new way to earn income for their families. We had a good turnout with over 30 women show up. Some ladies in the class professed faith in Christ and some of the new people visiting the church are a result of that class. We have since then continued that class. Christen and a sister named Rosalina lead it on Friday evenings as we have found that it is a great way to share the Gospel with the ladies in that community and establish healthy relationships between them and the ladies in the church.

In the men’s class we had a gentlemen there who has had a rough life, and was in a place of absolute brokenness over his sin. He confessed his need for Christ and on his own he cried out to Him in prayer. It was a beautiful thing to witness. I am now following up with him and another gentleman who was recently converted. This man, through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, realized that he should follow through in believer’s baptism and needed to marry the woman he is living with and has been with for years. This is wonderful news because this same man confessed to being a hard hearted atheist before coming to Christ, praise the Lord for His glorious grace and tender mercies!

Another wonderful blessing from the team that visited was that they left us stocked with plenty of bibles and solid gospel tracts to give out as we continue to reach the community.  Please pray for our evangelistic efforts and specifically that the Lord will save others and raise up the future leaders of His church here. But also pray that we take time to slow down and seek His face, we desperately depend on Him for everything and must make this a priority. (Psalm 27:8).

And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. – Luke 10:2

Please continue to pray for our family. There are sacifices and trials that come with this calling, as well as a real and present enemy. We need and appreciate all prayers offered on our behalf and may all we do here always be done for His glory alone. Pray.

This ministry is completely dependent on God’s provision through prayer, gifts, and donations made by monthly mission partners. We are always in need and in prayer for those who are willing to pray and sacrificially give in order to help us to share the Gospel, make disciples, and make God’s glory known in the Dominican Republic.
