Salgado DR Mission Newsletter

Dear mission partners, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord (Ephesians.1:2). Time is flying and it is hard to believe that this is already the third Christmas that our family will spend here. God has been faithful and we give thanks unto Him. We are thankful for His provision, thankful for His promises, and thankful for His love. We are also thankful for every one of our supporters that God was pleased to use as instruments of provision, those who faithfully pray for and sacrificially give towards our missionary endeavors here in the DR. Thank you.

The Christmas season here can be an exciting time, but it can also be a dangerous one. Many people here will spend time with family, getting together to celebrate this festive time of year. But with all the commotion, and many people drinking and partying, the roads will get dangerous, and the driving here is already pretty dangerous as it is. Pray for those who will be out in the craziness and that the Lord will be merciful so that there will not be many lives lost.

Many of you may know we are now reaching a part of Santiago called Los Angeles/Hato Mayor. The church building we are ministering out of is  the pic at the top of this newletter. It is located near a very large community and we are praying the Lord will do a great work there. Please keep our outreach efforts in your prayers. With this new church (building) and relocation comes new needs. Aside from normal living expenses, many things have come up which can be difficult for a ministry on a small budget to handle, so we are asking for help.

We need a lot of maintenance to be done to our vehicle. A car here was a huge investment for us (approximately 3-4 times what our vehicle’s year, make and model would cost back home!) and it is important that we keep up with it . We are praying God will provide the funds to convert our vehicle to propane. Gasoline here is around $6 a gallon but propane is only half the price. It would help us significantly with all the driving we do around here. I try to do all the errands I can on the bike to save money, but we are a family of five (6 with the baby in our care), and in a bigger town we are having to drive more. We are also in need of new tires. We presently have four different tires on our vehicle, some very worn and showing some signs of dry rot.

Meeting needs like these may not seem as glorious as feeding the poor or buying Bibles, but they are very important to keep things going for us here on the field. Please pray about helping.

As we move closer to entering a new year of ministry, and with new community to minister in, we hope to gain the support of others who are willing to give sacrificially for the mission of furthering the Gospel and making disciples in the Dominican Republic. We pray that God would mobilize churches back home who are willing to partner with us in prayer, support, and the necessary resources for the new work in Hato Mayor. This would be a huge blessing and very important for progress in that community. Please pray about being that church, like the beloved saints of Philippi were to Paul (Philippians 4:14-20).

Those who pray for, and give to missions, play a role just as important as the missionary on the field.  Will you help “hold the rope”?

Thank you again to all who have supported and prayed for our family in the past. May the Lord bless you and keep you abounding in His grace. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year, from our family to yours.

In service to our Lord and King,

The Salgado family

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,
always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,
because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
-Philippians 1:3-5 ESV
