Salgado DR Mission Newsletter

Dear mission partners, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour. We are in what is perhaps the most exciting season of ministry during our time here, or ever for that matter. We have been visiting and reaching out to the “barrios” surrounding the church and are establishing relationships with many in the area. The Lord is moving all around us. We recently had the about 60 people at a service last week which is about twice the regular number of people in attendance. Our friends from Morriston Baptist Church came for a visit and were a blessing to our ministry. They brought with them resources to hold a men’s bible study, women’s bible study, accessories workshop for women, supplies for a VBS for children, along with 500 bibles and 500 heart cry missionary gospel tracts! We were able to minister to about 150 children and 40 adults last week. This Sunday we saw new visitors at church as a result of that out reach. Praise the Lord!

We are seeing the Spirit of God is moving in people’s personal lives. One man who visits the church used to be an atheist. He is now a follower of Christ and admitted to me that he understands he must follow through in believers baptism and should marry the woman he is living with to no longer be living in sin. Praise the Lord! We may have a wedding and a few baptisms in the near future. Another man, during a men’s bible study began to display an attitude of brokeness and repentance, and during a prayer he began to cry out to the Lord on his own, asking for forgiveness of his sins. He saw his sin and need for the Saviour, a true work of the Spirit right before our eyes!

And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement: -John 16:8 ESV

But not all has been “hunky dory”. Just as in the times of the great awakening, when the Lord moves the enemy is also on the prowl. We are not ignorant of his schemes.  Just a few weeks ago the church was broken into and almost all the sound equipment was stolen. Well over $1300 worth of stuff, not to mention the damage that they did to the new fence that was installed and the window and bars that were destroyed. It was obvious this was not their first time doing this sort of thing. But the Lord is alsways good! During that same week, we received a generous donation that covered almost everything stolen. The only thing we lack now is the projector. If any church or friend out there has an extra projector or willing to purchase one for this ministry, we could really use a 2000 lumens or above projector. It is a great help during teaching and the messages considering the statistics on how much information a person retains when only listening versus listening and seeing it. The percentage of info retained increases drastically. Please pray about helping us meet this need.

We have also had an unusual amount of car trouble. Please pray that the Lord continues to provide. Many times we are not prepared for those extra expenses in our monthly spending and it can really hurt our tiny budget.

Of course we are always in need of new mission partners as well. We have developed a new model for short term missions which consists very small groups, the ablility to cut out larger expenses such as bus and hotels, in order to better invest in the ministry here while at the same time being better stewarts of the resources that the Lord has entrusted to us. Contact us if you or your church is interested and partnering with us and serious about fulfilling the Great Comission.

Please pray about becoming a monthly mission partner and joining us in ministry through prayer and financial support. If the Lord lays on your heart to give back to Him by supporting this ministry, you can contact us by clicking the “contact us” button on the home page of this site, or by messaging us at salgadodrmission@gmail.com. We need your prayers, ministry costs money and our family has a budget we must meet in order to be able to continue ministering effectively here in the Dominican Republic. Thank you and God Bless Pray.

In service to our Lord and King,

The Salgado family
